Cat Sanctuary Manager

Pay: $40,000 annually
WHO WE ARE
Feline Urgent Rescue (FUR) of WNC is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Founded in 2012, FUR is a cage-free, no-kill, last-chance sanctuary that focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abused, abandoned and neglected cats in our community. We provide care for more than 100 cats in our sanctuary, in foster homes and in cat colonies at any one time. Our sanctuary is funded almost exclusively by donations and is staffed almost exclusively by volunteers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sanctuary Manager is responsible for overseeing sanctuary operations, including, but not limited to:
- Providing routine care of our residents, including feeding, bathing, medicating and socializing cats
- Handling adoptions, including screening potential adopters and checking references
- Maintaining intake, adoption and medical records
- Monitoring inventory
- Scheduling vet visits and arranging transportation
- Managing and retaining teams of volunteers
- General facility cleaning
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must love cats and care about people
- Must have working knowledge of cats, cat behavior and cat socialization strategies
- Must have the patience and dexterity to medicate (sometimes unruly) cats
- Must be detail-oriented, highly observant, highly organized and diligent about documentation
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to “read” people
- Must be able to multi-task and complete daily tasks
- Must have experience managing people (experience managing volunteers is a plus)
- Must be comfortable kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead and lifting, carrying, and pulling up to 50 lbs
- Previous professional experience working at a shelter, vet’s office, etc. is a plus
